Wrongful Death Claims

You Can Trust Us!

Wrongful death claims can be very complex and sometimes, it may take a very long time to resolve. For these reasons, it is best to seek legal advice and sound counsel as soon as possible.

Nothing can ever prepare us for the unexpected loss of a loved one. Learning that their sudden death was caused by someone else’s negligence makes it more difficult to understand why it happened.

Wrongful deaths may leave family members with unforeseen economic and noneconomic loss. While no amount can ever compensate for the pain of losing a loved one, these hardships shouldn’t fall a burden on your lap while you’re coping with grief.

Greg Greenberg Law, PLLC will work with a sense of compassion and sensitivity to help your family fight for full compensation from the responsible parties.

As per the 2020 Florida Statutes Chapter 768.21, surviving family members may be entitled, but not limited to, the following compensation:
  • Medical and funeral expenses
  • Mental and emotional pain and suffering
  • Loss of companionship, protection, and guidance
  • Loss of future wages and benefits
  • Punitive damages
  • Loss of anticipated earnings

Like every law, a statute of limitations is in place that limits the time the heirs can file a lawsuit for wrongful death or else it will be barred. Most times, a lawsuit for wrongful death can only be filed within three years, starting from the day the person died. While for some, the time limit depends on whom and what caused the wrongful death. The court may refuse to hear your case if the statute of limitations has already elapsed.
